The Pixel 5a is official. Google’s ‘affordable’ premium smartphone has been launched with 5G capabilities and will take on devices from OnePlus, Apple and others in the segment.
Price and availability
The Pixel 5a will initially be made available in the US and Japan only. Google has not made any announcement about the phone coming to other regions, including India. The phone is up for pre-order starting today and is priced at $449. On August 26, the Pixel 5a with 5G will start shipping from the Google Store, as well as via Google Fi in the US and SoftBank in Japan.

The Pixel 5a 5G is powered has a Snapdragon 765G processor and comes with Titan M security module for on-device security. The phone has been launched in a single variant offering 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The smartphone ships with Android 11 out of the box and being a Pixel phone, users are guaranteed at least three years of software upgrades. Google Pixel 5a comes in a single colour variant — Mostly Black.
Google Pixel 5a comes with 6.34-inch OLED screen with 60Hz refresh rate. You will find an 8MP front camera placed in punch-hole. At the back, Google is offering a dual camera system for the Pixel 5a. Google has put the biggest ever battery in a Pixel phone in its latest device. The smartphone has a 4680mAh battery but misses out on wireless charging. It comes with an 18W charger that is included in the box. Google hasn’t ditched chargers like Apple and Samsung but said that this will be the last Pixel phone to get one. Google Pixel 5a comes with IP67 rating which makes it water resistant and it can be immersed in up to three feet water for up to 30 minutes.
